The Betting and Gaming Consultancy was established by John Heaton in
recognition of the unprecedented growth in the industry over the last
few years and the demand for experienced, "hands-on" assistance to
develop betting and associated businesses worldwide. We offer practical
assistance in the development of betting and gaming businesses both in
the UK and overseas.
John Heaton was Chief Executive of the UK Tote until
2004. The Tote is
a £1.5 billion turnover company which holds the exclusive licence
to operate pool betting on horseracing in the UK and employs over 4,000
people. Customers can bet direct with the Tote or through third party
Bookmakers and overseas operators. The Tote is also a bookmaker and has
the fifth largest chain of betting shops in Britain (520 shops),
together with a substantial telephone betting business and a growing
Internet business. John had been with the Tote for 21 years during
which time he fulfilled a number of key roles including In-house
Lawyer, Commercial Director and IT Director. In addition, he
spearheaded the Tote's bid to run the National Lottery in conjunction
with Autotote. From July 2006 until May 2007 John was Chief Executive
of
Interactive
Gaming Holdings an AIM listed company operating the on-line Heathorns
and
Premierbet brands
A qualified lawyer, John was Chief Executive of the Tote
for seven
years. He has advised government on the implementation of new betting
legislation and regulation and has himself drafted statutes extending
the Tote's powers. With an unparalleled and unique knowledge of both
bookmaking and pool betting John was President of the European pool
betting organisations and was guest speaker at a number of conferences
worldwide. During his extensive career in the Betting and Gaming
Industry he has studied racing industries throughout the world and
brings a wealth of knowledge to advise clients on existing or new
ventures.
